The Department of Economics (established: 1942) is one of the constituent departments of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The main aim of the department is to acquaint students with theoretical and practical problems of the global and Indian economy. It also seeks to develop in students the competencies of problem solving, critical thinking and policy formulation. The dedicated faculty of the department is devoted to enhancing the capabilities of the students and thereby enabling them to avail opportunities in various segments of the economy. The alumni of the department have distinguished themselves in both academic and administrative spheres.
